"If you love films and care about filmmakers, you'll have a hard time putting this book down. These lively conversations reveal just how much one generation of filmmakers influences the next - and how a single movie can change the course of a young person's life and career."
-Leonard Maltin, author of Leanord Martin's Movie Guide -
"A great and provocative read. Elder begins with a simple question and leads a wide variety of filmmakers down all sorts of unexpected paths. Why do we respond so passionately, even irrationally, to the movies that change our lives? The wonderful thing about being a critic or a lifelong movie lover is that life changes all the time in relation to the spells being cast on the screen. Elder's book honors that alchemic relationship many times over. It's addictive."

Signs of a Safe and Trustworthy Childcare Provider
Choosing the right childcare provider is one of the most important decisions a parent can make. Whether you’re enrolling your child in daycare for the first time or switching to a new center, safety and trust should always be your top priorities. A high-quality childcare provider does more than supervise children—they create a secure, nurturing environment where young minds can grow and thrive. Here are the key signs that indicate you’ve found a safe and trustworthy childcare provider. 1. Proper Licensing and Accreditation A reputable childcare provider should be fully licensed and meet all local regulatory requirements. Licensing ensures the center complies with safety standards, staff-to-child ratios, and health regulations. In addition to licensing, accreditation from recognized early childhood education organizations is a strong indicator of quality. Accreditation shows that the provider voluntarily meets higher standards for education, safety, and overall care. 2. Qualified and Caring Staff Trustworthy childcare centers hire trained professionals with experience in early childhood education. Staff should have appropriate certifications, including first aid and CPR training. Beyond qualifications, observe how caregivers interact with children. Are they patient, attentive, and genuinely engaged? Warm, respectful communication is a clear sign that children are being cared for in a supportive environment. Low staff turnover is another positive indicator. Consistency helps children build strong relationships and feel secure. 3. Clean and Well-Maintained Facilities A safe childcare environment should be clean, organized, and well-maintained. Floors, toys, bathrooms, and eating areas should be sanitized regularly. Many reputable centers invest in professional services such as childcare cleaning in Sydney to maintain strict hygiene standards and minimize the spread of germs. A clean facility not only protects children’s health but also reflects the provider’s commitment to quality care. 4. Clear Safety Policies and Procedures A trustworthy provider has clearly documented safety policies. These should … Continue reading

Waters says that a single line from THE WIZARD OF OZ —“Who would have thought a good little girl like you could destroy my beautiful wickedness?”—inspired his life. “I sometimes say it to myself before I go to sleep, like a prayer,” Waters says in the book. Waters and Elder will sign copies “The Film That Changed My Life” and Waters’ book “Role Models” following the screening and Q & A.
